Our Subteams
Every member plays a crucial role in our operations, and we welcome students from all disciplines and faculties at UBC. Whether your interests lie in engineering, design, management, or any other field, there is a place for you on our team.
Our team is organized into various subteams, each focusing on a specific aspect of the project. Before applying, take a moment to explore which subteam aligns best with your interests. If you’re unsure, we’re here to help you find your fit.
Mix Design
Our unique lightweight concrete, at 80% the density of water, ensures the canoe floats. The Mix Design subteam designs and performs laboratory tests to perfect the final design.
Paddling
Do you love being out on the water and have a passion for athletics? Look no further than our paddling team! Each year, select members are chosen to compete and race in our concrete canoe.
Hull Design
The Hull Design subteam uses naval architecture research and tools, including physical and computer modeling, to design and produce the canoe’s mold and refine its shape.
Admin
The admin team manages administrative tasks, writing, and project coordination, handling documentation and communications to support the concrete canoe design team by managing records and reports.
Construction
The Construction subteam handles the physical construction of different components. Members can expect to apply their craftsmanship and handiness to unique projects.
Outreach
The Outreach team connects with the community and potential sponsors to build strong partnerships. They secure support, manage relationships, and enhance our visibility, helping to drive the success of our team.
