Each year, this UBC student-run team designs, builds and races a twenty foot long canoe and, despite the circumstances, the team’s vision of work has not changed in 2020.
Concrete Canoe remains committed to monitoring the situation as it evolves and following public health recommendations. This year, we have decided to transition to remote working indefinitely as instructed by UBC’s COVID-19 policies. Despite these unforeseen circumstances, all design activities continue to operate as usual. As always, the UBC Concrete Canoe will be participating in various inter-university remote competitions. However, due to lack of access to our usual concrete testing laboratory and construction space, the UBC Concrete Canoe team will not be building a full sized prototype over the course of the 2020-2021 school year.
We consider our team members’ safety a top priority and will continue to adapt our operations based on information and advice provided by the health authorities.
